Two violent men were among defendants sentenced recently at York Magistrates Court.
John McLatchie, 49, of Mennell Court, Norton, pleaded guilty to stealing food worth £105.30 from Tesco Express in Norton, clothes worth £100 from Boyes in Malton and a sandwich from Tyke 2000 in Norton and possessing crack cocaine and was jailed for four weeks. He must pay compensation of £207.85.
Scott Berkley, 49, of Burnsall Drive, Acomb, pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour towards a security officer at York Hospital. He was jailed for 13 weeks.
Jordan Harrison-Wetherell, 25, of Market Weighton Road, Barlby, pleaded guilty to causing a man actual bodily harm to a man in Zuzu Lounge, Selby. He was given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months on condition he wears an alcohol abstinence tag for 120 days, 20 days’ rehabilitative activities and 120 hours’ unpaid work and was banned from Zuzu Lounge for 12 months. He must pay £500 compensation.
Benjamin Targett, 43, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance and, on a separate occasion, possessing a Class C drug. He was given a 12-month community order with 20 days’ rehabilitative activities, banned from driving for 10 months and ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
