A bomb squad was called in after a “suspicious” package was delivered near a North Yorkshire army base, police said.
The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team and police were called to the residential premises in Marne Road, Catterick Garrison, on Wednesday morning (October 2).
North Yorkshire Police said staff at the premises phoned the force at 7.50am after being concerned about a package that was delivered to the building.
A cordon was put in place and people were evacuated from the building as a precaution.
“Thankfully the package was not suspicious and contained clothing,” a police spokesperson said.
“The staff did the right thing in reporting their concerns to the police and we are pleased that it turned out not to be more serious.”
