Drivers were being urged to avoid the area after a crash on a main road into York.
The crash happened on the A1036 Tadcaster Road, between Sim Balk and the Moor Lane roundabout at Tesco, this morning (Wednesday, September 25).
It involved a motorcycle and a car with police on the scene, according to an eye witness.
The AA said traffic was backed up to St Helens Road and moving slowly.
“Please avoid the area if possible,” added a City of York Council spokesperson earlier.
Shortly after 11.45am, the council confirmed that the crash had been cleared and the road was open as normal.
The crash was affecting bus services in the area.
York Pullman Bus Company said its My 21 service is unable to serve Askham Bar Tesco, Middlethorpe Grove or South Bank due to road closures as a result of the accident.
