TWO men have been arrested in attempts to break a drug supply line believed to be running into York from Bradford.
North Yorkshire Police say the duo are in custody after a new police team aimed at disrupting serious and organised crime made its first arrests.
The force's operation sentry team were targeting a County Lines drug supply line believed to be running into York from Bradford.
Investigative work culminated in officers travelling to Bradford this morning (September 20), and executing a warrant at a property in the city.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. They were taken into custody, where they remain at this time.
Officers operate in plain clothes and unmarked cars, and have a range of specialist skills, including forcing entry into properties, accessing phone data and using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) – all aimed at disrupting organised crime groups.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We see first-hand the misery that is inflicted by ‘County Lines’ drugs gangs on our communities in York and North Yorkshire.
"That’s why we’re relentless in our efforts to target organised crime groups, and safeguard vulnerable people.
"Anyone with any information about suspected drug-related crime is urged to make a report via the North Yorkshire Police website or by calling 101, select option 4, and speak to the Force Control Room.
"Always dial 999 if an emergency response is required."
