A York jewellery store reports success with an event that saw a parliament of owls descend on its city centre boutique.

Bradley's Jewellers York hosted its annual autumn event, ‘Feathers and Foilage’, which saw the unveiling of a new, exterior display, sweet treats and competitions.

However, the highlight last Saturday was the arrival of the owls to Low Petergate thanks to the support of York-based Owl Adventures, who specialise in brid of prey shows.

Bradley's Jewellers customers and passers-by stopped to take pictures with Henrietta, the European Eagle owl, Fudge the Barn owl, and Diago, the White Faced African owl, resulting in great footfall and engagement for the jeweller.

Elsewhere, a tombola competition gave one lucky customer the chance to win a sterling silver Owl pendant worth £100, while families were presented with hot chocolate and gingerbread to get into the seasonal spirit.

Bradley's Jewellers York owner, Kay Bradley, said: “My son Rupert absolutely loves birds of prey, so this is where the idea for 'Feathers & Foliage' first came from.

“After a challenging summer with Rupert being in-and-out of hospital, now was the perfect time to celebrate the new season with treats, competitions and a live birds of prey demonstration that our customers absolutely loved. I am thrilled with the success."

Bradley's Jewellers secured a number of diamond jewellery, engagement ring and wedding ring sales on the day, with footfall mirroring the popular York Ice Trail that takes place in February.

Kay added: “The York Ice Trail has always been a phenomenal way to drive footfall onto Low Petergate, but I think we may have found another event that garners the same attention. I can imagine 'Feathers & Foliage' becoming an annual initiative that many families look forward to. Let's see what happens in 2025!"

The Bradley's Jewellers York autumnal display will be the Low Petergate store until  early November. Then, the business will transform its boutique again for the Christmas period.

In recent weeks, Kay Bradley was named 'Retail Leader of the Year' at the annual Professional Jeweller Awards earlier this month.

This marks the second consecutive year that Bradley has won this coveted award, beating out stiff competition from the likes of Watches of Switzerland Group, Boodles and the Bucherer Group, among others.
