A man who behaved in a racial manner at York Magistrates Court was among defendants from the city and North Yorkshire sentenced recently
Norman Tinsley, 67, of Farndale, Kirkbymoorside, pleaded guilty to harassment. He was given a 12-month community order at Scarborough Magistrates Court with six months’ alcohol treatment and 25 days’ rehabilitative activities and was made subject to a three-year restraining order aimed at protecting a woman. He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
Matthew Dobson, 50, of Sirocco Court, Heworth, was convicted in his absence of assault in Tesco’s Low Ousegate store, York, theft from Sainsbury’s in Micklegate, York, and failure to attend court. He pleaded guilty to racial behaviour at York Magistrates Court. He was jailed for 14 weeks at Teesside Magistrates Court.
Two defendants were sentenced at York Magistrates Court.
Joshua Suter, 33, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order and was jailed for 16 weeks. He was ordered to pay a £154 statutory surcharge.
David Hall, 65, of Hensall, Selby, pleaded guilty to driving in a Selby car park when three and a half times the drink drive limit. He was banned from driving for 28 months and given a two-year community order with 30 days’ rehabilitative activities. He must pay £85 prosecution costs.
