Langlands Garden Centre in Shiptonthorpe has raised £6,700 for charity through two fundraising events.

The events, which took place in August and early September, featured classic cars and sports vehicles.

Hundreds of visitors from across the region attended.

The first event, the Weighton Wolds Rotary Club’s 10th Annual Charity Classic Car Show, was held over two days on August 25 and 26.

It featured more than 200 classic cars each day, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to admire vintage vehicles and chat with fellow enthusiasts.

The event raised £5,400 for York Against Cancer, which funds essential cancer services.

The second event, the Yorkshire Wolds Sports and Supercar Show, took place on September 1.

Sports and supercars were showcased at the event, attracting crowds and raising a total of £1,300 for the British Heart Foundation.

James Ducker, events manager at British Garden Centres, said: "We are thrilled to have hosted these two fantastic fundraising events.

"The support from the local community and beyond has been overwhelming.

"It's wonderful to see so many people come together to support such worthy causes."

Both events also served as a showcase for Langlands Garden Centre, the newest member of the British Garden Centres group.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore the newly rebranded store, enjoy food at the Gardener's Retreat restaurant, and discover a range of gardening products and gifts.

British Garden Centres is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group, with 65 centres around the country.
