Plans have been lodged to open a Greek street food restaurant in a North Yorkshire town centre.
According to documents submitted to North Yorkshire Council, the business would be called Ange Pitta Star.
The site is in a prominent position on the corner of Bower Road and Mayfield Grove in Harrogate.
The building was formerly home to The Fabulous 50’s Diner until the restaurant closed after three years in the town.
Over the previous new year, the building’s landlord placed enforcement notices in the windows of the diner.
The planning application asks the council for permission to erect illuminated signage related to the new Greek restaurant.
Documents say the owner wants to create a “relaxed comfortable venue” for customers.
It adds that most of the food will be for takeaway but there will be indoor and outdoor seating for food and drink.
The building offers a single room on the ground floor which will be dominated by the “theatre cooking of the Greek street food”.
There is also a small bar at the rear of the premises.
There is a single toilet downstairs and the remainder of the basement will be used for storage and food prep.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the application at a later date.
