A show apartment has opened at a grand York villa as part of a development of 21 luxury homes.

Work started earlier this year, with completion at Beverley Court on Shipton Road due by the end of the year.

Already, some 30 per cent of the apartments have been snapped up before they’ve officially hit the market.

The construction and refurbishment work is progressing well at the scheme located next to Homestead Park, which is being developed by Harrogate-based Inglehurst Property.

Leading North Yorkshire-based property agent Stephensons is marketing the one, two and three bed properties with prices starting from £295,000.

Having secured planning permission in 2021, Inglehurst Property acquired the site from The Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

Originally constructed in the late 19th century, Beverley House became a family residence for the Rowntree’s factory manager and later served as offices for the Joseph Rowntree Trust and the Local Government Ombudsman.

In a tribute to its rich heritage of the site, the three new buildings have been named Appleton House, Seebohm Lodge, and Homestead View, while the site as a whole is now known as Beverley Court.  Beverley House will keep its historic name.

Matthew Newton from Inglehurst Property said: “The elegantly designed show apartment showcases the high-quality finishes and interiors of the development.    Opening this marks a significant milestone for the project, which is progressing successfully.”

Oliver Newby from Stephensons added: “There has been a tremendous amount of interest in the homes already, with 30 per cent reserved, before we have launched them onto Rightmove and other property portals.

"We expect the remaining apartments to generate a lot of interest from a wide range of people, given the fantastic location and finish of Beverley Court.  From the reservations so far, over 40 per cent of the new build apartments have been taken."

Designed by award-winning York-based architect Vincent & Partners, the development features homes surrounding a communal courtyard, promising to restore Beverley House to its former glory by removing unsympathetic additions and introducing three new high-quality buildings.

The first residents are expected to move into the development in January 2025 and more information can be found at www.BeverleyCourt-York.co.uk.
