FINE weather and tradition saw more than 2,000 people pass through the gates of one of York’s longest running annual shows.
The Fulford Show took place in School Lane playing fields and the Social Hall on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26) and both were packed with stalls, exhibits, food stands, a funfair and special competitions for canines on National Dog Day.
Fulford Show organiser Verna Campbell said: “We did the dog show for the first time and it was fantastic.
“There were categories for most affectionate dog, cutest dog, best biscuit catcher and I have a personal interest in the dog that most looks like its owner.
“My dog and my husband were entered.”
Verna said York Central MP Rachael Maskell and Councillors Kate Ravilious and Sarah Wilson were judges of the traditional fancy dress competition, and everyone enjoyed the tug-of-war – girls versus boys and mums versus dads.
