Vandalism in York: 'Just goes to show how ignorant some people are'
COMING out of Marks & Spencer on Monday morning, I walked across Parliament Street to view the newly-installed statue of the Tansy beetle - a very impressive piece of work.
But on inspection you could see the mindless vandalism carried out on this relatively new exhibit.
The prow of the Viking longship had been broken off, and two of the octopus' legs had been snapped off so it is now a 'hexapod'.
The destroying of art and property is absolutely just mindless vandalism. Reading of the destruction of the bee-hive structure on the Foss Fairy Trail (The Press, August 8) highlights how prevalent vandalism is - and just goes to show how ignorant some people are.
