A main road into York has reopened after a crash involving a cyclist and a car.
Drivers were being urged to avoid the A19 at Clifton, near Clifton Green, this morning (Wednesday, May 8), which was closed for over two hours due to the collision.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said the cyclist was taken to hospital after the crash.
“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to York Hospital,” a service spokesperson said.
City of York Council at 9.30am said the road was closed with inbound traffic being diverted around Clifton Green.
At 11.45am the council confirmed that the road had reopened.
A police cordon was in place this morning with multiple police cars and vans on the scene.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time. Thank you," a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said at the time.
First York said the road closure affected its number two bus service.
