Clifton Cycling Club is hosting the 2008 Yorkshire Region Road Race Championships around Sheriff Hutton on Sunday.
The race circuit includes the tough ascent of Bulmer Bank and plunges down Terrington Bank during each 17km lap. With eight laps giving a race distance of 142km, the elite men's race is a gruelling test. Fewer laps of the same circuit face competitors in the women's, masters (over-40s) and Juniors races.
Said race organiser Andy Johnston: "It's great for York to have such a prestigious event bring cycling talent into the area for this event."
The field includes Clifton's own Paul Musgrave and York Cycleworks riders Jamie Sharp and Alistair Kay, plus Kit Gilham.
Racing starts at 10am on Sunday. Further details are available on the website www.cliftoncc.org
