TEENAGE sensation Zoe Eagles continued her amazing season as she beat Cumbria's Sheila Devlin in the Champion of Champions Singles Play-off Final.

The win saw the Dringhouses ace book a place in the National Finals in April.

Eagles trailed 12-7, then 14-9, but she refused to yield, scoring a four on the 19th end to take the lead at 17-16.

After the next, the scores were level when she dropped a single but Eagles held her nerve to win three ends on the spin and take the game 21-17.

It wasn't to be for Linda Harrison and Dot Kennelly in the Pairs Play-off Final as a dropped five on the 16th end proved crucial. They went 18-10 behind and finished up losing 21-16 to Janice Gower's team.

Meanwhile, disappointment hit local clubs in the Yorkshire League.

York lost their division one fixture 79-75 against relegation-threatened Hornsea, while New Earswick went down 85-79 in their division two promotion clash to South Leeds.

At Thanet Road, Paul Mooring's York rink raised hopes of an aggregate win when they coasted in 27-6.

The other rink of Malcolm Thompson's had a torrid time against rising star Scott Burrell - only winning six ends to lose 28-12.

At Hornsea, Frank Turner's side were involved in a difficult game, They trailed 18-17 with two ends to play before a three and a single saw them home.

Mark Clarke's team struggled early on and were 18-0 down before they got on the board. They perished 27-15.

York next play bottom club Metrodome.

New Earswick looked to have their game wrapped up when they led 73-60 on aggregate with three ends to play - but it all went wrong.

Bob Edward's home rink were leading 16-12 with five ends to play, but they lost 24-16, though Bryan Gray's rink secured the home aggregate points with a 23-12 victory.

Away, Barry Johnson's team held on to win 26-22 after being 24-13 ahead with three ends to play. But Paul Dawson's four perished 27-14.

Earswick can get back on track next week if they get a good win against Harrogate.

York got back into the Hebden title race with a 79-68 win, picking up a valuable 16 points against South Leeds.

Brian Thomas' team levelled at 17-17 after trailing 17-10 at home with six ends to play. Then 18-17 down, Thomas crucially drew two winning woods.

Tony Bryan's side also left it late. Down 15-9 with seven ends to play, they took all but one for an 18-16 success.

Away, Geoff Walker's four excelled to storm 12-1 ahead after nine ends to win 25-11. Eric Hodgson's side led 13-12 at midway, but lost five out of six ends to crash 23-17.

New Earswick's involvement in the title race ended after a disappointing 105-64 defeat to North Cave.

The only consolation for New Earswick was posted by Bob Howland's away rink, which confirmed a 29-16 triumph after leading 10-0 from the first five ends.
