Fifth seed Chris Rusling was in fine form as he beat James Buckland 3-0 to set up an intriguing York Squash Open quarter-against his Yorkshire League team-mate and fourth seed, Simon Middleton, tonight.
Also into the last eight went Next Generation ace Nick Robinson who had to battle all the way before seeing off number seven seed Matt Stephenson.
Robinson just secured the first game 10-9 over his Dunnington opponent who then took a 4-1 lead in the second game before Robinson regained his sharpness to win 9-6.
He then raced 7-0 up in the third only for Stephenson to trim the deficit to just a single point before Robinson countered to win 9-6 for a 3-0 triumph.
Already into the semi-finals is top seed Nathan Hill, who toppled Mike Goodwin, 3-0.
