ONE York resident has braved the first day of the train strikes to travel from Newcastle to York.
Today is the first day three days of strikes with the impact expected to be felt all week and train commuters being advised not to travel.
Teba Diatta was on the 11.29am train from Newcastle and described it as being like a "ghost train" with people opting to avoid travelling on the rails today.
