City of York Ladies 1st put in a good team performance to beat visiting Driffield 2-1.
A couple of absences meant certain players had to play out of position, but York started the game promisingly putting pressure on Driffield.
The first goal came from a counter attack down the right following a well-defended short corner from York.
The ball was passed out of defence quickly, Ruth Laybourn, Ali Butler linking well and Sal Sleightholme on the end of the ball to put it away.
In the second half, Driffield equalised early on.
York forced a fair share of short corners but were unable to capitalise on them until the last ten minutes when an improvised short corner shot from Lorraine Pearey found the back of the net.
