MALTON and Norton fell to a 40-19 away defeat against third-placed Cleckheaton in the North One East.

The first half of the game was quite competitive, with neither side being able to truly pull away from the other. Malton entered the break down by 14-12.

Cleckheaton came out firing in the second half though and through 26 unanswered points, broke away to a 40-12 lead.

A late try from Will Hughes was mere consolation for ninth-placed Malton, who now look to their final game of the season against Moortown on Saturday, April 23.

Elsewhere in the North One East, Pocklington lost 25-20 in a tight game away at Driffield.

The win for the home side keeps them atop the table heading into the season’s final week.

Pocklington remain 10th, though far removed from the threat of relegation.

Meanwhile, in Yorkshire One, Selby fell to a 34-30 defeat at home against Bridlington.

The game was a tussle at the top end of the table, with fourth-placed Bridlington maintaining a four point gap on fifth-placed Selby with a win.

Selby take on third-placed Pontefract in their final game of the season on Saturday, April 23.

In the Yorkshire Four Premier, Nestle Rowntree were winners at home with a 15-11 win over Mosborough in their final game of the season.

The win means Nestle Rowntree finish a strong campaign in third place.

Elsewhere in the Yorkshire Four Premier, York RI finished their season with a 22-20 loss away at Hornsea.

York RI, currently sixth, have one more game left of their season.

On Saturday, April 23, they will host Stocksbridge.
