PUPILS at North Yorkshire primary schools have been making a drama out of healthy eating.

Youngsters at four primary schools across North Yorkshire have been treated to a mystery drama by a professional London theatre troupe, learning about the wisdom of healthy eating as part of the fun. Quantum Theatre Company staged Captain Cholesterol And The Grannies From Mars at Amotherby School, thanks to the creative skills of Lucy Walker who won the theatrical performance for her school as a prize.

Lucy had coloured in healthy eating pictures and answered some tricky questions about diet, exercise and hygiene during a National Healthy Schools Week competition, run by North Yorkshire County Council's school catering arm, North Yorkshire County Caterers.

Coun John Watson, the council's executive member for schools, said: "Concerns are constantly growing over record levels of childhood obesity and the link between poor diet in childhood and poor health in adulthood. So it's never been so important to teach youngsters about the importance of healthy living in a fun and engaging way."
