THE motorist who died when his BMW car smashed into a stone arch at Castle Howard was named today as Christian Miles Hobbin, 42, of Roman Avenue North, Stamford Bridge.
An inquest into his death in the accident last Friday was opened today for formal identification purposes and then adjourned.
The crash, which was the third fatal accident in two years at the stately home's historic Carmirre Gate, left a pile of twisted wreckage.
