A MAIN road in to York was closed for several hours after a crash.
Emergency services were called in at about 7.40am today (March 18) to the A19 Shipton Road after a crash between a BMW car and a motorbike on the main route in to York from the north.
North Yorkshire Police closed the road shortly afterwards from the ring road to Howard Drive and it reopened at about 11.50am.
One person was taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 7.40am yesterday morning to reports of a collision between a car and motorbike on the A19 Shipton Road.
"An ambulance and specialist paramedic were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to York Hospital."
