This Northallerton pub has scored five stars an all aspects from food to atmosphere and has received glowing reviews from many visitors.

Praised for its great takeaway Paramo and its cosy atmosphere the Horseshoe Inn offers great food for a great price at £11 to £20.

The venue has received 243 “excellent” five-star reviews out of a total of 272 reviews all together and has received five stars in food, service, value and atmosphere.

One person said: “Thanks to looking on trip advisor to find somewhere for lunch on our way home we were lucky enough to find this wonderfully cosy country pub with the best Sunday dinner we've ever had.

“The owners are so friendly and accommodating as were the staff. What a find!!! It's not exactly on our doorstep but I'll find lots of excuses to visit again.”

2. The Duke of Wellington, Main Street, Welbury, Northallerton

With prices ranging from £8 to £30 there’s something for everyone at this Northallerton pub.

Praised for it’s warm atmosphere and friendly staff, the pub has received four-and-a-half stars in food, service, value and four stars in atmosphere.

Not only is the place a nice place to eat it also doubles as a great place to stay if you’re ever visiting the market town.

The pub has received £280 “excellent” five star reviews out of a total of 353 reviews all together.

One person said: “We stayed over night while cycling the W to W bike ride the hotel is just 2 miles off route, the staff when we arrived could not do enough for us quickly showing us to our room and storing the bike securely.

“We had a splendid meal and retired to a spotless room. I would definitely recommend any one riding the W 2 W to stay overnight.”

3. The Crosby, Thornton Le Beans, Northallerton

The Crosby is another pub scoring almost five stars in all aspects with a five star in food and four-and-a-half stars in service, value and atmosphere.

It has been praised for its great hospitality and food as well as the wide range of options on the menu.

One person said: “My wife and I have been coming here for food for over 10 years. My wife, originally a local, but now residing in Wales, suggested this restaurant when we first started dating and we have been here countless times.

“Every time we visit her parents in Great Smeaton we always have at least one meal here. The charm of the Crosby and indeed the owners is second to none. We will be back...again.”

4. The Coore Arms, Station Road Scruton, Northallerton

The Northern Echo:

The Coore Arms offers a range of dietary options such as gluten free and people loved the pubs friendly staff.

Securing itself a TripAdvisor 2021 Travellers’ Choice award the venue scored five stars in food and service and four-and-a-half stars in value and atmosphere.

The venue has secured 285 “excellent” five star reviews and 70 four-star reviews out of a total of 376 reviews all together.

One person said: “Stopped in after about a year due to Lockdown, the greeting from Mark was as if we'd only been gone a week.

“Great selection of Gluten free food and all served with a smile. Just a Fabulous country pub with great atmosphere.”

5. Tejanos Steak House and Grill, High Street

Offering a bit of a different cuisine from American to Mexican, this venue is also known for offering great food at a great price.

With prices ranging from £4 to £18, you can see why the restaurant has scored four-and-a-half stars in value, service and food.

The restaurant has scored 203 “excellent” reviews out of 270 reviews all together.

One person said: “Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Food was incredible and so very priced.

“Service was friendly and efficient, couldn’t have done enough for us, including putting a candle on my nephews pudding for his birthday. Will absolutely be back again.”

6. The Herdsman, Holywell Lane, North Cowton Myton Terrace

Along with other venues on this list, The Herdsman has been praised for its warm and friendly staff.

The business has scored four-and-a-half stars in food, service and value and is one of the few to secure a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award

258 of the 317 reviews are “excellent” five star reviews.

One person said: “The food and service are alway superb! Such a welcoming place to eat, we have introduced many friends who also feel as we do! Thank you.”

7. Wellington Heifer, Northallerton Road Ainderby Steeple

Prices at this venue vary from £11 to £25, offering another inexpensive option to eat while also offering great service.

The building has scored four-and-a-half stars on food, service, value and atmosphere and reviewers have praised the venue for “exceeding expectations.”

Wellington Heifer has secured 224 “excellent” reviews out of a total of 327 reviews all together.

One person said: “Went here for dinner and we are so glad we did. This atmosphere is a proper country pub with a wood burning fire in the bar.
