CONSULTATIONS, consultations and more consultations? Following the Coppergate consultation there is now a majority of people in favour of Coppergate returning to two-way traffic.

However, this is not good enough for Councillor D’Agorne - he wants more consultations until he gets a favourable mandate?

Democracy flies out of the window with this man!

Then to slow things down even further, he is appealing to Grant Shapps to help him along with his quest.

Also he has elected to extend the current situation until his wishes are successful!

It’s like Brexit all over again with the man! I think it should be a condition of every consultation, that the cost of such exercises are published immediately they have taken place, or better still, before hand. Then we could have a consultation on whether or not we should have a consultation!!

Roll on the next councillor elections!!

Add Hull Road to the list of worst roads in the city

FURTHER to the report regarding ‘worst roads in York’ may I add Hull Road to that list. Unfortunately while cycling I hit a pot hole and ended up in the middle of the road.

May I thank all those wonderful people who stopped to assist especially the motorist who pulled up and called the ambulance and got me to the footpath.

Also thanks to the ambulance technicians and the marvellous staff at the hospital.

Very sore from my experience but so much more heartened and thankful that there is an abundance of lovely people who when you need it are there to support.

How cruel can humans be?

RE: Tuesday's Press and on page 9 the heartbreaking picture of an abandoned dog left to die with a broken back in absolute agony.

Just how callous and cruel can some humans be?

I hope the culprits are found and dealt with harshly.

No animal deserves to suffer like that at the hands of "animals".

Time for Queen's Guards to switch to fake fur caps

NOW that PETA has unveiled the world’s first faux bear fur, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has no excuse for continuing to wage war on black bears.

Using real bearskins in the Queen’s Guards' caps flies in the face of the values of the British public, 95 per cent of whom object to killing animals for their fur.

Today, most designers, retailers, and high-profile individuals – including the Queen herself – have shunned the cruelly obtained material.

The UK banned fur farming 20 years ago, and with a ban on the sale of fur anticipated, the MoD cannot deem itself exempt from the standards of the rest of society.

Bears are cruelly killed for their fur by being shot during hunts or ensnared, sometimes for days, in painful traps.

In some Canadian provinces, there are no restrictions on shooting mothers with nursing cubs, who are left behind to starve. It takes the entire hide of one black bear to make just one guard’s cap.

To add insult to injury, these ornamental hats cost UK taxpayers hundreds of thousands of pounds every year. A Freedom of Information request revealed that over £1 million of taxpayers’ money was spent on bearskin caps in the past seven years alone.

It’s past time for the MoD to end this unbearable cruelty and switch to modern, humane faux fur that is indistinguishable from the real thing.
