Reports of an earthquake in North Yorkshire may have been a sonic boom, according to experts.
The British Geological Survey has tweeted this eveing that it thinks the event was a "sonic boom from an aircraft, rather than an earthquake".
Earlier today (Wednesday, November 17), reports came in of a "loud bang" and the ground shaking, possibly caused by seismic activity in or near York, at 3:48pm.
Were getting quite a few felt reports from North Yorkshire, and you can see something on our stations in the area. We think this is a sonic boom from an aircraft, rather than an earthquake.
