Walking down Coney Street in York just before 11am on Remembrance Sunday I paused outside the old Press office.
The streets were reasonably busy but, as if by magic, at 11am all became silent as people stopped in homage to the fallen - other than the odd child and a flypast of screeching seagulls the street was silent.
It was a very touching moment and a show of appreciation for our armed forces who gave so much.
