THESE youngsters have been part of a community effort to collect a large donation to help those in need.

Outwood Primary Academy Alne, in Main Street in Alne, asked all those who could, to donate any dried or tinned goods as part of the school’s harvest celebrations for Easingwold District Community Care Association Food Bank.

The school had amazing success with the collection, with an incredible 20 bags being filled to the brim with food and goods being handed over to the foodbank.

Easingwold Foodbank has since thanked the school for making such large donation.

Frank Johnston-Banks and Sam Wilson of Easingwold Foodbank wrote to the school to thank them for their generosity.

In their letter, the duo said: “Easingwold Foodbank wishes to say a great big thank you for all the wonderful food that you donated to us from your harvest festival.

“We are all so very grateful to you for your kindness to local people to help stop them being hungry.

“The food and toiletries that you kindly donated will all be given to local families and children who need help during the cold winter months and for Christmas.”

Michelle Dawson is principal at Outwood Primary Academy Alne.

She said: “We are very thankful to all those who contributed towards our collection and donation.

"Their generosity will only serve to help someone who needs it as we enter what is likely to be a difficult time of year for some people.”

Outwood has sponsored the school since April this year and has also run Outwood Academy Easingwold since 2018.

Easingwold Foodbank is part of the Easingwold District Community Care Association.
