Danielle England is 45 and lives in Strensall, York. She is a support worker and is a keen member of The Press Camera Club. Here, in our new regular feature on Press Camera Club members, she tells us more about her passion and shares her favourite photos.

When and why did you take up photography?

I took up photography because I was bought a camera as a gift. I always saw beauty in everything I see so loved taking photos of my surroundings and family. Also my two daughters do cheer and dance and I always spent a fortune on photos of them at competitions. I have taken on the challenge to photograph them in action myself, which is real fun. Over the last few years I have been honoured to be asked by friends to photograph their special occasions and children, so have been able to practice lots of different types of photography. I have a fascination with trees and toadstools and love sunlight in photos. I would love to do a college course at some point in the future to understand my camera properly, but until then I will keep tinkering away. I have been lucky enough to have quite a good few photos in The Press over the last couple of years.

Why do you love taking pictures?

Photos are memories of amazing things you see and do. It's the ability to capture a moment to remember for a lifetime.

What equipment do you use?

I use Nikon d3400 and d750 with lots of different lenses I have gathered over the last couple of years .

What is the favourite picture you have taken?

I have lots of favourites. I love people and capturing moments when they aren't posing, just natural, chatting and laughing.

Where is your favourite place to take photos?

I love Strensall common, it's such a beautiful place in each season we visit. Also love the seaside, beaches and sea are great for showing movement and fun.

When and why did you join The Press Camera Club?

I joined The Press Camera Club in 2018 just after I got my first camera. I found the page on Facebook and thought it was fab to see lots of photos from around York. I always find the site very inspirational and have really enjoyed looking at everyone's photos.

If you could photograph anyone or any place who/what would it be and why?

I would love to photograph animals in the wild, whales in Iceland would be amazing. It must be so special to do wildlife photography in natural surroundings.

What advice would you give anyone who wants to get into photography?

Just give it a whirl. Take your time, enjoy your camera, take it everywhere with you. Just have days out in your local area or town centre, you notice so much more if you have a camera with you.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

It's always really exciting to have a photo in The Press.
