A RESIDENT caused a gas alert when he tried to change the knobs on his cooker this morning.
Firefighter crews from two stations were called out to deal with the emergency.
They found the Sherburn-in-Elmet resident had a lighted candle in their living room as well as a gas leak.
The 999 squads isolated the gas to the cooker, ventilated the property and blew out the candle.
They also gave safety advice to the resident.
