I am absolutely appalled at the prospect of Groves traffic remaining diverted.
There are four roads travelling through The Groves.
We have lost two, which means 50 per cent more traffic is shifted to Lord Mayors Walk and Hayley’s Terrace.
These two roads are already breaking pollution limits The Groves area has always had heavy traffic, and as a taxi driver I can assure you that this situation is far worse with extra polluting standing traffic - you are just moving pollution from The Groves to surrounding roads.
If speed is a problem, put speed bumps through The Groves.
There are dozens of roads that local residents in York would like to see being made traffic free, but where it is not feasible. Why should The Groves be given special status? The residents knew when they moved there that they were moving to a heavy traffic area.
