A GROUP of local artists are hosting their annual winter fair in York.

South Bank Studios, artists based at Southlands Methodist Church in Bishopthorpe Road, are holding their annual Art and Craft Winter Fair on Saturday, November 13.

The 28 artists are exhibiting a range of artwork, including jewellery, ceramics, lino prints, textiles, and fine art paintings and print, available for the public to purchase.

Donna Maria Taylor, one of the artists and event organisers, said: “There has never been a better time than now to support local artists.

“The South Bank Studio ethos is to build our community, so we decided that as well as showcasing our own work, we would invite other artists and makers to join us at the fair.

“When we were selecting artists and makers to take part, we made sure that collectively we would offer a varied price range, so no-one should miss out.”

“We are expecting a special guest to open the fair, but can’t say who at the minute, it’s all very exciting.”

The art studios will be open on the day, so visitors can get a chance to take a look behind the scenes.

The fair also showcases live performances from 10am-12.30pm, from York Music Centre, including the senior concert band, the guitar ensemble, the senior folkestra, and the big band.

The church will provide homemade refreshments.

The fair runs from 10am-5pm, and the entry is free.

South Bank Studios, who formed as a group in 2018, have been involved in community projects and hold workshops.
