Derek Utley, 81, in training for the Yorkshire Marathon
Woodland Trust champion Derek Utley, who recently completed the Yorkshire Marathon at 81, is a volunteer at collecting plastic tree protection guards (The Press, October 29).
Derek is described as an avid tree planter. Currently, as we hackers at Forest Park golf club search for lost golf balls, Derek instead is searching for and collecting fallen acorns as he grows baby oak trees at home.
There are many grey squirrels scurrying about also searching for their winter food store on the course, but eagle-eyed Derek usually beats them to it.
