A FORMER Subway sandwich shop in York city centre is set to take on a new roll next month selling a very different sort of food - waffles, cakes, milkshakes and puddings.
The shop in Nessgate closed down during the first lockdown last year.
Now a sign on the door says it is set to reopen on November 3 as Whipped, selling 'fresh waffles, cookie dough, cakes, milkshakes, puddings and more.'
Barry Crux, chartered surveyor at agents Barry Crux and Co, has always been confident that the premises would find an occupant following Subway's departure, saying in July 2020 that there had been a very encouraging number of inquiries about the building.
He said there was still very good demand for small units such as this, mostly from locally based individuals, some of whom would be start-up businesses and some established operators."
