WINTER may be drawing in but at least 85 York cafes, bars and restaurants have applied to City of York Council for pavement cafe licences.

The authority says businesses are required to reapply for a pavement café license under the Business & Planning Act and no automatic renewals will be granted.

A spokesman said licences would be processed in line with the council's guidance and procedures.

"Applications are being reviewed individually by officers," he said.

"We have increased accessibility requirements this year."

He said the following had had licences issued by the council:
