THE police helicopter and other emergency services have been involved in a search this morning.
Emergency services were called in shortly before 5am this morning (October 22) York Rescue Boat says their team were called out by North Yorkshire Police at 5.03am to an incident in York.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said a search took place in and alongside the river at Ouse Bridge in York city centre and started just before 5am, was for a man who was believed to be in a distressed state.
He said: "The search involved police officers, a police helicopter, the fire and rescue boat and the York Rescue Boat.
"The operation was called off before 6.30am when, following enquiries to confirm his identity, officers were able to locate him at his home address. He is receiving support and care."
A rescue boat spokesman said: "We worked alongside North Yorks Fire crews and the national police air service during the search with York police bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
"The team were stood down at 6.23am."
