A YORK nutritionist is on a mission to support women through perimenopause and menopause with the release of her new book.

Sally Duffin is the writer behind Natural Nutrition for Perimenopause – What to Eat to Feel Good and Stay Sane - inspired by her own health journey.

Drawing more lessons from the lives of her clients, Sally hopes to offer practical, friendly nutrition and lifestyle support to women experiencing the upheaval of perimenopause.

An estimated 13 million women in the UK go through menopause each year and the years leading up to it – the perimenopause – can be fraught with unpleasant symptoms.

Symptoms include hot flushes, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and poor memory - leaving many women struggling to balance the pressures of health, work and family life.

It has been published just in time for World Menopause Day on October 18.

“The more open conversations we can have about perimenopause and menopause, the faster we will see a tidal change in society’s attitudes towards it," Sally said.

“This is finally happening with mental health, and we need it to happen with menopause too.  Menopause Awareness Month is a great way of raising awareness of the issues women and many trans men face during perimenopause and menopause.

"I want women to know there are lots of ways they can support their own health and wellbeing at this time – whether they choose to take Hormone Replacement Therapy or not.  Nutrition and lifestyle changes can make a huge difference to how you feel and are empowering steps to take.”

Combining evidence-based nutrition recommendations with simple actionable lifestyle suggestions, the book is already receiving 5-star reviews.  Published by York Publishing Services, it is available direct from the York Publishing Direct online store or Amazon.
