A MAN had to be rescued after a fire in the early hours this morning.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called out at 2.38am after calls from residents in Regent Street, Scarborough.
A spokesman for the service said: "Scarborough appliances responded and found cooking left unattended which had activated smoke alarms.
"On investigating the specific flat, the occupant, a man, was found unconscious – believed to be due to smoke inhalation.
"Firecrews provided oxygen therapy until the ambulance attended."
