ANOTHER cafe in York city centre has been hit by staffing shortages.

Costa Coffee in High Ousegate had a sign in its doorway today saying that it could only offer a takeaway service 'as we are extremely short staffed.'

It added: "Thank you for your understanding. Team Ousegate."

The Press reported last week how Dyls Cafe next to Skeldergate Bridge was having to close on the first three days of the week because of staffing shortages.

Staff said they had now been able to recruit new staff, helped by the return of university students to York, but it would take time to train them up before the cafe could resume normal opening times.

Several other hospitality businesses were forced by staffing shortages and the 'pingdemic' to shut earlier in the autumn and in the summer.
