A SPECIAL bike ride is being planned in York this Sunday to demonstrate the freedom and independence which cycling can give to people with disabilities.
York Cycle Campaign is joining forces with disabled cycling charity 'Empowered People' to organise the 35k ride, which starts at 10.30am at Cycle Heaven in York, travels along quiet roads and cycle paths to Acaster Selby, and then returns to York for a circuit of the city centre.
Campaign member Jamie Wood said cycling provided him with a freedom that no other form of transport could match, as he had multiple sclerosis which meant he could only walk a few metres.
