POLICE are searching for a man who fled the scene after breaking into a property in York.

The burglary that occurred between 7.20 – 7.35am on Saturday (October 9) in Nunnery Lane in the city.

The man gained entry to a property through the front door but was disturbed by the resident and fled the scene on a black bicycle with a blue seat, which is described as battered in appearance.

North Yorkshire Police are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police said the man is described as being Eastern European in appearance, between 25-30 years old, around 5’7” tall and of a skinny build. They said he had dark brown eyes and is described as appearing quite unwell.

Officers said the man was wearing a black beanie hat, black cotton face mask, a knee length black raincoat with the hood up and a small motif on the left arm of the coat. He was also wearing black tracksuit trousers, black and silver trainers and faded white cotton gloves.
