YORK'S Grange hotel is to open in December under new owners with a new name, new look, and spa.

The Grade-II listed Regency town house in Clifton dates back to around 1840, when it was known as Bootham Grange, but will become known as No.1 when it opens at the end of this year.

The owners - Guest brothers Tristan, James and Tom who run boutique hotel chain GuestHouse - have shared with The Press a sneak peek at what the new interiors will look like - with the emphasis on elegance and comfort - but fun also.

There will be 39 bedrooms as well as two luxury suites, a snug, bar, restaurant, private dining room and spa treatments available in the cellar.

British designer Martin Hulbert has created the interiors which included rugs and upholstery inspired by the textiles industry. Locally sourced antiques and art mix with curios that reflect York’s history.

The former Georgian drawing room and library have been restored to create two suites: The Bootham Rooms, complete with four poster beds and freestanding baths.

No.1 will also have The Bootham Room, a private dining space.

Guests can help themselves to goodies in the pantry kitchen, play music on the vinyl record players in their room, or gather round the fire and play board games.

The hotel will have a lounge bar snug, for coffee, drinks and afternoon tea.

The main bar will be filled with local beers and quality wines as well as the GuestHouse signature cocktails, created from local ingredients and inspired by some of the UK’s most famous destinations.

Circling the bar area will be a fully functioning miniature steam train, inspired by York's National Railway Museum.

It's restaurant will serve local produce, and the former cellar - once a bar and restaurant and also an air shelter in the Second World War - will house the hotel spa offering a range of treatments using organic products. There’s even a treatment room for two.

Room rates start from £165 on a room-only basis. Find out more at: guesthousehotels.co.uk
