A YORK-based rail operator is launching a special event in a bid to attract more visitors to the city post-pandemic.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has announced an exclusive opportunity for budding photographers in partnership with Visit York.

The first ever Photography Experience Event will be held on Saturday, October 23 and will see enthusiasts travel along the Azuma East Coast route from London King’s Cross to York.

The photographers will explore the city’s historic sites such as the Minster, Shambles and Clifford’s Tower before returning to London later in the day.

They will be accompanied by award-winning professional photographer Charlotte Graham, who will be sharing her tips and tricks of the trade.

Charlotte’s work has featured in The Press many other newspapers and magazines, and she has earned a reputation for her creative and dynamic style.

The rail company hopes the event will attract more people to the city and its rail travel post-pandemic.

Kate McFerran, communications director at LNER, said: “Customers will travel in style on our new Azuma trains and enjoy a breakfast offer served at their seat before getting the chance to explore a stunning city that is really close to our hearts, as York is the home of LNER. They’ll have a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best photographers in the business and the chance to showcase their own work and get feedback from Charlotte on the return journey. We’re also going to be on the lookout the best image of the day.

“Whether you’re a budding photographer or fancy a visit to York to see the sights, we can promise this will be a day trip to remember.”

Tickets are £195 per person with limited availability.

The price includes a First Class return journey onboard the Azuma train and an exclusive goodie bag.
