Your correspondence columns have recently contained several letters about cycling safety in York.
May I suggest it’s about time we had a Give-Way-to-Cyclists week?
Many is the time, when I am cycling back from the supermarket, panniers replete with groceries, that I have to remain stationary in the middle of the road, trying not to wobble and fall off whilst buses, lorries and cars whizz past in close proximity of both my elbows as I wait for a gap in the traffic.
Hardly ever does an approaching driver consider slightly slowing down thus enabling me to turn right, accessing the comparative safety of Middlethorpe Drive.
This is even though in a few yards those very same drivers have to grind to a halt in the queues approaching the Tadcaster Road Tesco roundabout.
