I write with reference to Richard Hind’s letter (The Press, September 26) regarding an elderly person who was fined after paying for their parking permit a month early, placing it under the current permit and then forgetting to remove the expired one a month later.

The council was contacted regarding a refund and effectively said ‘nothing can be done’.

What an unbelievable lack of compassion.

This is the same council which makes it unnecessarily difficult for disabled people to visit their own city centre.
