Police have confirmed that they investigating an incident of criminal damage at a building in the Hudson Quarter at Toft Green in the early hours of Monday.

They say CCTV footage shows four men, two dressed in black and two dressed in orange suits, spray-painting graffiti on the side of the building at 4.24am on Monday morning.

They have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

As reported earlier, activists from a group calling itself ‘Palestine Action’ say they used fire extinguishers to daub the building, for which property company JLL acts as the leasing agent, with red paint in protest at JLL's alleged connections with Israel.

A spokesperson for the group said: “A JLL site in Hudson Quarter in York was targeted by activists on Sunday night, using fire extinguishers to cover the building in blood-red paint."

The spokesman alleged that JLL, through its subsidiary LaSalle Investment Management, provided office space for Israel-based defence electronics company Elbit Systems.

Activists also daubed the words 'Shut Elbit down' on the pavement in red paint. The group is also understood to have targeted a JLL site in Manchester.
