A DOG is being blamed for starting a fire which saw firefighters called out last night (September 26).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called out at 9pm to a house off Applecroft Road in York.
A spokesman for the service said: "York and Acomb responded to reports of a toaster on fire in a residential property.
"The occupier had already taken toaster outside upon our arrival.
"The toaster was on the hob as the kitchen was being renovated and it’s believed the occupiers dog may have jumped up accidentally switching the hob on and therefore igniting the toaster.
"The fire was out upon arrival and crews inspected and gave advice."
