UPDATED 3.05PM: The road has now reopened and the accident has been cleared.
A MAJOR road in North Yorkshire is currently closed both ways after a crash.
Reports are coming in that the A19 is currently shut both ways at Thirkleby with heavy traffic due to an accident between The Avenue and Low Lane, the Coxwold turn-off.
It's affecting traffic between Thirsk and York.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
More to follow.
🚨We are currently at the scene of a serious RTC on the A19.
