North Yorkshire's chief constable and her headquarters today paid tribute to the county's police officers who have died or been killed while on duty.

Chief Constable Lisa Winward attended the annual National Police Memorial Day's service at Lincoln Cathedral.

The North Yorkshire Police headquarters are lit up in blue.

Among members of North Yorkshire Police who have died on duty are PC Andrew Bramma, who was answering a 999 call when he crashed in 2013 on a country road near Ripon, Special Constable Glenn Goodman killed by an IRA gunman in 1992 and PC David Haigh and Sgt David Winter, both of whom were shot dead by Barry Prudom in 1982.

Representatives from police forces across the country including the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick and from bereaved families attended the service, as did the Home Secretary Priti Patel. The service was streamed online.

Before she left for Lincoln, the chief constable tweeted that she would be remembering "all of our fallen colleagues".
