A MAN has denied a charge of kidnapping a woman in York.

Marcus Paul Green, 31, of Callin Street, Greyfriars, Chester, entered his plea on his first hearing before York Crown Court.

His case was adjourned until December when he will appear by a video link for a pre-trial review hearing.

His trial was set for January 24 before the same court.

Green was remanded in custody.

There was no application for bail.

He was arrested following an incident in the early hours of August 26 in Tang Hall. Police cordoned off a property in the area for much of the day.

During the short hearing, Green spoke only to confirm his name and to enter his plea.

He is alleged to have taken a woman out of the city against her will.

Kelly Sherif for the prosecution and Shufgat Khan for the defence discussed the case with the Recorder of York, Judge Sean Morris.
