Former pupils of a York secondary modern school which closed in 1985 will be holding their first reunion since the Covid outbreak.

All-boys St George’s RC Secondary Modern School was renowned for its sports, with talented boxers, swimmers, footballers and rugby players all going there.

There have been regular annual reunions of ‘old boys’ since 2012, but last year’s event was postponed because of Covid. The St George’s Old Boys Association has organised a reunion for this year, however, on Friday November 12 at 7pm at the York NHS Hospital Sports and Social Club in White Cross Road.

“We hope all age groups will attend,” said Tom Sweeney, one of the organisers. “Our last reunion in 2019 had a mixed age group - as it should be!”

There will be the usual buffet – paid for by raffle prizes donated by the Old Boys themselves. “So raffle prizes would be gratefully appreciated!” Tom said.

There's no need to book form the event. Just turn up on the night - preferably with a raffle prize...
