TWO men have today behind bars after they appeared before magistrates in York and North Yorkshire for crimes against women.

Both were also made subject to orders aimed at protecting the women concerned from them in future.

Jason Peter Conibere, 44, of Fordlands Crescent, Fulford, was jailed for 24 weeks.

He denied a charge of assaulting a woman in York, but was convicted at a trial.

He was made subject to a four-year restraining order banning him from contacting or approaching the woman.

He was ordered to pay a £128 statutory surcharge and £300 prosecution costs.

Michael Anthony Burke, 56, of Allington Gardens, Allington, Grantham, was jailed for 11 weeks.

He admitted stalking a different woman, being drunk and disorderly and criminal damage to a bollard, all in Harrogate and criminal damage to Foss Park Hospital in York

In addition to the jail term, he was made subject to a two-year restraining order that bans him from Harrogate and prevents him from contacting the woman. He was ordered to pay a £128 statutory surcharge.
